Internet, website, everything shows Sunday hours as open from 12-5. We drove 2 Hours ONE WAY to get here and they are CLOSED! Thx a lot!

Was looking for replacement Power Wheels parts and found this shop had it and many other parts available for our truck. Called them up to see if they had it in stock and they had it out the next business day! The guy I spoke with on the phone was super knowledgeable and willing to help me source my part; was also very helpful in other random questions I had about Power Wheels Really just surprised by the level of customer care I thought they deserved a 5-star review.

On Monday 5/2 my son comes home from school and tells me he had a project that is due this Friday 5/6 and he has to build the Tower of Alexandria. After a quick internet search there is a limited selection. It was late Monday afternoon, and I took a chance and called Oakridge Hobbies. I glanced at the clock and realized they closed in about 5 minutes. Chris was AWESOME!!!!! to work with. He had the product in stock, dropped it in the mail Monday afternoon and it arrived on our doorstep in TN on Wednesday. My son spent last night building his project and he is good to go.

I cannot say enough about the impeccable customer service Chris provided plus going above and beyond by getting the product in the mail Monday night so we would have it by Wednesday. Thank you so much, you all are fantastic!!!!!!

I miss my niece so much so I planned to visit him. It's been a long time since we saw each other and he's 5 years old now. My sister told me that he loves cars. So I decided to look for a car and gave it to him. So I came to this place since it is near my house. And I saw some cars the last time I came here. Their toy cars were put in an inventory full of glass. When I saw the price of each it was pricey. I slide the door glass and grab the car. It was big and a little bit heavy. I forgot what kind of car it is but it looks cool. I went to the counter and paid for it. They put it in a paper bag. I'm sure my niece will be so happy.  He will love it!

Thank you, Oakridge! You saved my son’s birthday! My husband put together our son’s Power Wheels Jeep the night before his special day that we purchased at Costco, but when he woke up, we had to tell him that it was missing a steering wheel. Yup, he was disappointed. So when I called customer service, they directed me to this hidden jewel, as they had factory certified parts for the brand. I was able to pick up the part while my son was at school. Thank you for saving the day! That’s not all, when I went inside the store, I was mesmerized by all the cool toys, trains, and model sets they had there. I was most impressed with all the STEM toys that I could find. I felt like a kid again and wanted to buy everything! We will certainly be back with my son before the holidays.

The only bad thing with this feeder insert is that is does not fill all three levels evenly !!! The center tube needs to be cut differently !!! It is an improvement over the original feeder that did not have this tube !!! But it needs to be improved !!! I received my order Super Fast !!! It came days before it was supposed to arrive !!! I didn't know that some of the items I had ordered for my husbands 60 birthday party was having to come from another warehouse, which was causing a delay in shipping. Found the item through google search and a link to your website. Some other sites showed the item but it was not available. The original item I received was damaged in shipping due to a poor quality weld but a representative from Oakridge Hobbies was able to have the manufacturer ship a replacement part directly to me. Overall I was very happy with the service I received and the replacement part corrected all the issues with the item I purchased. Just received vin diesel's charger and going to leave the model sealed for future preference with my grand kids when they grow up later in life! they'll receive this along with other models, bought pauls model car unfortunately from another seller out there, which didn't care what condition the model boxes are in as long as he can shove the model in the shipping box then everything is ok?... don't deal with that other crook anymore. These paint by numbers kits are amazing, I have completed 2 pictures so far and one is in progress and they are framed and hanging in my living room. It takes me from 4 to 6 months to complete and during this time the paint is protected and does not go bad or dry out completely. If I had one comment to make is that they should include slightly larger containers of the paints that are mixed as I tend to run out of those colors and have to request more. I used to go to Al's in Elmhurst. When they closed, it broke my heart, but it was evident that Al's was dying a slow death. Like any hobbyist, you want to check out other venues if just out of curiosity. I hadn't been to Oakridge Hobbies since they were at their old location, so I almost assumed they were gone, too when I mistakenly went to the old spot. I looked on my phone and saw that they had moved to a bigger store across the street. I'm glad I went in! While they aren't your typical hobby shop with parts and screws and such everywhere, they are a magnificent toy store. They are much cleaner and organized better than your old fashioned hobby store. There are all sorts of toys I didn't know they made and a lot I hadn't seen since I was a kid. They alsohave a decent train area, a dollhouse section, slot cars, a fair amount of remote control, but mainly catering to backyard bashing and park flyers. The staff was great. They were friendly, polite and even offered to show me some new planes I might be interested. There were a lot of kids checking out the train table in the middle that had buttons that made sounds and the trains go. Even though all I bought this time were batteries for my HobbyZone Sport Cub I will be back later on to upgrade my transmitter radio because they said they would bind and set it up for me for free. MITCHELL S.

I discovered this business a couple of years ago when they were over by Toys R Us. I was amazed how much stuff they could pack into that little store over there. But now they're kiddy corner by the Chase and Frugal Muse. I'm a long time customer and go frequently. Their new store is even more amazing then it was before and I find something new every time I go. I mainly go in for the models, puzzles and Remote Control sections. Oakridge Hobbies and Toys is a great store, very reminiscent of the all-purpose toy and hobby stores of the '60s and '70s. Lots of models, children's toys, doll house and miniature goods, a decent selection of model trains, and lots of scratchbuilding supplies. The staff is on the young side, but are very helpful and (in one case) extremely knowledgeable about modelling paints and masking techniques. If you love Playmobil (or if you have a little relative who does), this place is heaven. I try to support local hobby stores as much as I can, and Oakridge Hobbies is a great place to check out. It has a great selection of models for a retail store, including high-quality Hasegawa military kits. Apparently Oakridge Hobby is also the go-to place for wargaming miniature modellers -- lots of intriguing Gundam and Warhammer products which aren't my thing, but I am very glad that the local community has this resource so close. And of course the place has a great selection of R/C models and slot cars -- R/C is taken VERY SERIOUSLY here and -- again -- were I into R/C I would be very excited to have Oakridge Hobbies so close. RYAN M.

I found Oakridge when looking to purchase a dollhouse building kit. My plan was to find a medium-sized Victorian mansion. While I did not find my miniature dream home, I did find useful dollhouse pieces and craft projects.
 What impressed me most about the dollhouse section was the furnishings. Miniaturists can purchase entire room sets. Also, shingles, light fixtures, individual furniture pieces, and dolls are for sale. The items all seemed to be high quality. 
In general, I think this a useful store for miniaturists and other model builders. In addition to the dollhouse hobby, there are sections for model railroads, cars, and ships. Artists will also find lots of paint-by-number kits here. This seems to be a specialty store for those who enjoy model building, crafts, and puzzles. You will also find more generic toys that could be found elsewhere.
I recommend this hobby and toy store or their websites for their large selection of models and dollhouse equipment. The employees are friendly also. JOEY R.

I was looking for a gift for my husband and thought about getting him a remote control car. Now, I don't know anything about RC cars, but Ed was an excellent salesman. He was very knowledgeable and gave me assurance that my husband would enjoy the Traxxas Stampede. So I bought it and my husband loves it. We have been back many times for parts. "My husbands car is attracted to mailboxes" :-) but that comes with the hobby.
Not only do they have stuff for adults; they also have a great selection of toys and crafts for younger kids too. I had to buy a gift for my 9 year old niece. Bernie made my shopping experience fun and quick. The best thing is that I didn't spend a fortune. Their prices are very competitive to other stores and some times they are lower!
The one thing that really that sets this place apart from any other is their customer service. The employees are very friendly and approachable. They know about the product they sell. All they guys at the RC counter know what they are talking about. We all know someone who has everything. The ladies at the front always helped me find something different and unique.
If you are going to shop anywhere, Oakridge is a wonderful place to go. ESTER K.

I have been visiting this store for many years, since they were at their older location. I really like their new store better. It's brighter, it's much cleaner and there is more selection. They have many, many different puzzles from lots of different brands. They have a good amount of the harder to find large format piece puzzles. These large format pieces are great to do with children and especially the elderly because they are easier to see and more importantly, the pieces are easier to grab and handle.
The staff was friendly and upbeat. They checked on me several times while I browsed to see if I was doing ok.
When checking out, they even offered to wrap my purchase, which I declined because it was for myself and not a gift. But it is worth noting that they do wrap, because it always comes in handy when there is that last minute gift to buy.

I first heard about Oakridge Hobbies & Toys at the Lisle Eyes To The Sky Festival. They had a booth there where they were offering free children's crafts and face painting. There was quite a line for the face painting because other booths were charging and they were doing it for free. My kids wanted their faces painted so I waited in line while they did the free crafts. A nice young man gave me a coupon to their store as I waited.
I didn't think much of it until two weeks later when I had to get a birthday present for one of my son's friends. So I took the coupon and decided to give Oakridge Hobbies & Toys a shot.
From the outside, the store doesn't look really big but once you're inside, you'll be suprised! There are a bunch of large stuffed jungle animals at the front and around the top ready to greet you after you walk in. Around the store are also different fun props and things that make it sort of like FAO Shwartz. My sons loved the electric train that chugs above and around the store. They chased it and followed it for a few laps.
Oakridge has a lot of different things that you don't find in the toy aisle at Target or ToysRUs. If you want something other than plastic toys like Barbies and GIJoe you should definately check them out. They've got a nice selection of brands like Melissa and Doug, Playmobil, Lego and Kidoozie. There's toys I remember when I was young like Sockem Boppers, Ant farms and Voice Changers. There's plenty of other toys and gifts that I haven't seen before. I was taking mental notes for Christmas because it comes sooner than you think.
The back of the store is a hobby shop. They have slot race car sets, trains, model kits, chemistry sets and remote control cars. My two sons had a lot of fun playing on the race track they had set up in the back of the store (another Christmas mental note). They also had a computer RC plane simulator that you can practice flying before you buy a plane or helicopter. My kids and I crashed way too much! It was fun. Maybe in a few years!
We settled on a Batman Lego Juniors set for the gift and some of these small metal laser cut airplane kits for me and my sons to build at home. The lady behind at checkout was very friendly and offered to wrap our gift for free. Saves me from buying wrapping paper and doing it myself.
Overall it was a great trip to a very nice store. I've got a bunch of new ideas for possible Christmas presents for my two boys and I'm definately telling Grandma about Oakridge for her future shopping. ANTHONY B.

I was searching for a specific coin bank and Oakridge Hobbies & Toys had the best price (item + shipping), even beating Amazons price. Since I was shopping online, I must admit I was skeptical about placing an order with this store. I mean, I live in California and this store is in Illinois...well I sucked it up and felt a bit more secure about my purchase because I was paying with my PayPal account. Well my item arrived perfectly packaged and just as I expected it. I LOVE my baby's coin bank and I thank Oakridge for an easy and smooth online transaction :) SUKI R. San Diego, CA SUKI R.

I usually don't write reviews but my experience with this store last week was great and I wanted to share it. I shop at Oakridge and usually buy toys for my daughter. This time I bought a drone for my husband for his birthday. I grabbed one off the shelf, but it turns out it was the wrong one. My husband wanted a different one he saw in their store, a nicer (and more expensive one). I went back to exchange the one I had bought but they were sold out of the one my husband saw earlier. They took my name and said they would have another in two days (on Friday, his party was Saturday). It was cutting it close and I wasn't sure it I'd have it in time, but I got it in time. I was extremely happy because when they called my house to let me know it had arrived, my daughter picked up the phone and I wasn't home. They left a discrete message with her so as not to ruin the surprise. They also had the the boxes all gift wrapped up and ready to go when I showed up to pick up the drone which saved me time and a headache! We also got this free extra controller for the drone's camera, too plus $45 in rewards coupons (the drone was $950, same as online). My husband was very happy with the drone and on Sunday he went back to the store and some employees walked him through and explained all of the features and answered all his questions about the drone.
I would definitely recommend going to Oakridge Hobbies and Toys. They have employees who care about you. JENNY G.

I stopped by here this afternoon just to check out this store because I've never been there and ended up leaving with an ECX Ruckus. It is one awesome truck! I had my doubts because my only experience buying Remote control cars have been at walmart or online and they usually end up being junk. I've taken this Ruckus through my yard several times today and it's a lot of fun.Oakridge also carries extra parts for it just in case. I already want to fix it up to brushless and make it go even faster! They just made me one happy guy! ALEX K.

My son loves the train table so much. We always get him a nice Thomas Wooden Railway toy to bring home, and there are always new options to pick from that we can't find at Toys R Us. The train that goes around the store is real nice, and my son points it out every time it passes by. I can't wait for my son to start playing with all the other toys available, I'm looking forward to playing with R/C cars/planes with him. Juan Garcia
