AMT MPC - 1:20 Scale George Barris Ricksha Show Rod Plastic Model Car Kit (MPC965)
American custom car builder George Barris, who is also known for making the Batman car that appeared in the TV version of Batman in 1966, has created various custom cars.
The machine he left has attracted many fans.
The rickshaw show rod was made for exhibition at the World's Fair held in Osaka, Japan in 1970.
The trike designed as a taxi for use in Osaka was designed with inspiration from rickshaws and the like. The chassis using a rectangular tube is equipped with a Chevy V8 engine on the front. The air cleaner is engraved with three dragons.
The drive was a trike in which the steering was operated with two rear wheels and one front wheel.
About the Model:
The model is a 1/20 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the custom machine, Rikisha Showrod, which was made by George Barris, who is still very popular among custom car fans, for exhibition at the 1970 Osaka Expo. A realistic model of a machine packed with the charm unique to Barris.
The exposed engine, various decorated compartments, chassis, suspension, etc. are reproduced in detail. The V8 engine with a mechanical finish and plenty of presence reproduces the sculpture of the air cleaner dragon.
A cover is attached on the radiator in the image of a sedge umbrella used for farm work, and the top on the seat, which seems to have a rickshaw motif, is also reproduced with plenty of atmosphere.
It is one that you can enjoy the world of American custom and show rod.
