It was built by Douglas Aircraft as a replacement for the smaller DC-2. Its 180 MPH cruising speed made it the fastest of its day, and carried eleven more passengers than the Boeing 247. Pilots liked its stability, ease of handling and superior performance. By 1938, 80 percent of all American commercial airline traffic was carried on DC-3's. Over 60 years later, the DC-3 is still in service as an airliner in many countries. This Guillow's balsa wood airplane kit, a Legendary civilian airliner, is made of balsa and has plastic parts. Moveable tail surfaces and aileron. Includes authentic decals for the classic military transport C-47, as well as for the DC-3. Paint and Glue not included. Assembly required.
