Description
BACHMANN - HO Scale Bay Window Transfer Caboose - CSX #16624 - (76401)
Designed for the Missouri Pacific in the late 1970s, the Short Body Bay Window Caboose was one of the very last caboose styles to be built for class-one operation. With End-of-Train Devices fast replacing cabooses on the rear of road trains, the Short Body Bay Window Caboose was constructed with a design that could easily be adapted for shoving or transfer movements, featuring a longer platform on each end of the body for external riding. The basic design was adopted by several other railroads, including the Louisville & Nashville (ultimately continuing in service under CSX ownership) and Southern Pacific , while many of the original MoPac cars continued in operation long after the Missouri Pacific merged into the Union Pacific system. The Bachmann Short Body Bay Window Transfer Caboose arrives with newly tooled components, accurate details, blackened metal wheels, and E-Z Mate knuckle couplers.
