A skidder is a piece of equipment used in logging operations for pulling cut trees out of a forest. These trees are skidded from the cutting site to a landing, where they are trimmed and loaded onto rail cars, trucks or sent by water flumes to the mill. Bachmann's replica is of a steam donkey winch and was used by smaller logging companies early in the century.
